In the framework of the research work, a considerable number of monographs, scientific articles, textbooks, abstracts of scientific reports have been published by Olexandr Bignyak. He participates in many conferences, seminars, round tables, including international ones. He takes part in professional development activities, including the 'Successful Appeal to the European Court of Human Rights: From Theory to Practice', held in Strasbourg on 9-13 April, 2018.
Olexandr Bignyak got an appreciation letter from the Chairman of Odessa region Bar Association for conscientious work and significant contribution to the development of legal education and science.
The Department of International and European Law is a part of the Faculty of International Legal Relations and provides training for full-time and part-time students at all faculties and institutes of the National University “Odessa Law Academy”.
The main purpose of the work of the department is the formation of students' knowledge in the field of International Law, Private International Law and International Relations, as well as training of highly qualified academic and pedagogical staff, and participation in the research work of the university as well.

The Department of International and European Law also participates in the implementation of the initiative of the President of NU "OLA", Academician Sergey Kivalov, and provides academic disciplines in English.

The department studies touching issues of the theory of International Law, International Humanitarian Law, formation and development of Iinternational Criminal, Maritime, Environmental and Aviation Law, implementation of European standards in the field of human rights along with legal basis of counteraction to terrorism.
